Yahoo Messenger 5.6

This is a small HOWTO to explain the Set-Up for Yahoo messenger to work together with "Your freedom".

Install & Start Yahoo Messenger, you usually find it here.

Select -> Login -> Preferences

Click on "Connection" and enter values as shown in the screenshot below:

Instead of using the HTTP proxy, you may use SOCKS5 as well. But you cannot use "localhost" or "127.0.0.1" as the SOCKS host -- use a different representation instead. We've been told that "127.0.1" will do nicely, and it means the same thing (courtesy of fehmiyucer).

 

Yahoo Messenger for Vista

The new Yahoo messenger for Vista can be used with Your Freedom as well. On the login screen, hit Shift-Ctrl-P to open the Preferences dialog. In there, configure this, then restart the Yahoo messenger:
