  • New client 20070824-03
  • We have just released 20070824-03. If you have just upgraded to 20070823-01, it is still recommended that you use 20070824-03 instead if you are using OpenVPN. If you are not using OpenVPN you don't need to upgrade.

You may now select in 20070824-01 whether you would like to use the old UDP transport for OpenVPN or the new TCP transport. It may make a difference for some users, you never know. For most users, TCP should be best, which is the new default. You may now also change all the OpenVPN settings on-the-fly while the connection is open. Note however that it gets restarted if you do.

Client version 20070823-01 and above contain a paradigm shift with regards to OpenVPN. We decided to use TCP transport instead of UDP after we found that it is a lot more reliable in problematic networking scenarios. This means that if you are working with several PCs behind one Your Freedom client, you need to update the OpenVPN config files.

Also, we recommend that you upgrade your OpenVPN installation to version 2.1 rc4. I know it's beta, but it's stable enough for us to run it on the servers so it's probably stable enough for you as well, and it rocks! Especially since it supports setting socket options, which we use to turn off the Nagle algorithm adding unnecessary lag in some situations.

For those who wondered why the bandwidth monitors erased graphs, that's fixed too. It was easier to rewrite the code in question than to find the bug.

In short, everyone upgrade please. And don't hesitate to send reports to us; we like to hear about problems of course, and we don't mind praise either! No, not because we're vain but because it tells us that we've done something right.
